A report on unreported crime in the capital
PDF document, version 1.3
Uploaded at 4.04.53pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 25th May 2005
On the basis of both anecdotal and documented evidence that many crimes are not
reported to the police,The Lib Dems undertook a survey to provide a snapshot of the level of the
unreporting of crime. In doing so we were particularly interested in why people did not
report crimes to the police and what these reasons show about the level of public
confidence in the police service and their accessibility.

Briefing on the Metropolitan Police Authority's Estates Strategy
PDF document, version 1.3
Uploaded at 11.32.47am GMT Tue 20th Feb 2007
In 2004, the Met police took steps to address problem with it's buildings (including where facilities are situated). In partnership with the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA) which oversees the police in London, the Met launched 'Building Towards the Safest City', its estate strategy for 2003-08. In this document, the MPS set out its broad vision for the future including closing out-of-date police stations and opening new, sometimes purpose-built, facilities in their places. The plan included opening 'safer neighbourhood bases' from which newly-implemented Safer Neighbourhood Teams would work.
In 2007 the MPA published 'Building Towards the Safest City'. The attached file gives a Liberal Democrat view on the strategy and suggests ways in which local communities can engage with the police in their area when consulted about the future of the police's 'estate' in their area.
