'Time to rebuild and go forward' - Dee Doocey on appointment of Sir Paul Stephenson as the Metropolitan Police Commissioner10.32.00am GMT Wed 28th Jan 2009 Dee Doocey, the Liberal Democrat London Assembly spokesperson on policing and a member of the Metroopolitan Police Authority commenting on the appointment of Sir Paul Stephenson as the new commissioner of the Metropolitan police said: "I wish Sir Paul Stephenson well in this crucial job. Not only does the Met face immense challenges to ensure London is a safer place, but there are also many issues that now need to be addressed in terms of improving morale and providing clear direction at the highest levels of the Met. After a period of division and infighting within the Met it is now time to rebuild and go forward in delivering effective policing across the capital." Ends
