'Are fare rises an indication of what we can expect from a Conservative Government?' - Mike Tuffrey AM10.14.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 10th Sep 2008 Commenting on the Mayor's 'Organising for Delivery' statement made at Mayor's Question Time this morning Mike Tuffrey AM, the leader of the Liberal Democrat Group at the London Assembly, says: "We broadly welcome this direction of travel, which is something which we have been seeking from some years with the previous mayor. "What's important is that this goes to providing better services and if this announcement is an indication of a direction of travel for a Conservative government then it's surprising that Mayor Boris Johnson's first big decision is to put fares up over inflation. "We hope that isn't a pre-cursor of things to come."
