TIME FOR LIVINGSTONE TO KEEP TO HIS OLYMPIC COUNCIL TAX PROMISE

1.27.15pm GMT Tue 1st Nov 2005

Responding to the Mayor Ken Livingstone's comments at the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Olympics spokesperson, Dee Doocey said:-

"Londoners will be delighted that when it comes to how much they will have to pay for the Olympics, the Mayor has promised to 'stick to the letter of the deal' and not raise Council Tax above 38p per week. Let us just hope he keeps to his word.

"However, time and again Ken Livingstone has overspent on key projects in the capital. Leaving the Mayor to manage a budget has been like asking a goat to tend the cabbages.

"Over the coming years, Mr Livingstone may rue the day that he asks Londoners to judge him by his financial competence."
