Lib Dems ask transport boss for new Camden bus route

12.00.00am GMT Wed 13th Nov 2002

London Assembly transport spokesperson Lynne Featherstone has called on Transport for London to provide a much-needed new bus route to serve West Hampstead / Hampstead Town area of Camden.

There is a great demand for a service to go around the Tollers Estate "Several local residents have contacted me suggesting that a bus route linking West Hampstead with Hampstead Town would be a valuable addition to the local bus network. It would greatly benefit people using public transport in the area who currently have to change buses in Swiss Cottage."

"The suggested route would connect Kilburn Park station (Cambridge Avenue), Kilburn High Road, Quex Road, West End Lane to its northern connection with Finchley Road, Arkwright Road, Fitzjohn's Avenue and Hampstead centre.

"I have written to Peter Hendy, Director of Surface Transport for Transport for London, asking him to give this route active consideration. Given the public demand for such a route, I hope to hear back from him promptly."
